The first skating on the Rideau Canal

The weather was excellent last weekend. I was on-call but, fortunately, the world is not without nice people. My colleague Virgil was very kind to cover me for couple hours so that we could enjoy our first skating experience in Ottawa.

There were impressive number of people:


But best skaters (especially first time skaters!) are easy to spot:

Alex was quite enthusiastic even though he fell about 30-40 times this day:

    Ah, I see on-call didn’t stop you skating - cool ;-)

    Thanks for the nice pictures, at least I know what it looks like now!

    I just found out that Mads has never been ice skating, even on a rink. My sister was going to take her yesterday but they didn’t do it. I think she may have chickened-out in case she fell in front of all the kids on school holiday this week …
